Remi Rebillard: March 4th, 1991
March 4th, 1991. Photographer Remi Rebillard has just passed in front of the outer wall of French singer-songwriter Serge Gainsbourg’s house on Rue de Verneuil in Paris, France. Two days prior, Serge Gainsbourg died of a heart attack. Quickly, Remi began to snap a short series of photos documenting the graffiti that fans had left in tribute to Serge.
The photoshoot presented here today was a fashion editorial shot the very same week of Serge’s death in Paris, France. Channeling the mood of the era, the mood of the week, and the unmistakable influences of Jean Paul Gaultier, Azzedine Alaia, and Mondino, Remi Rebillard photographs Renee Jeffus, Rebeca Romijn, Tasha Tilberg, Cara Leigh Thompson, and Jenny Brunt in this timely retrospective.
