Surprise! Pocket Camera Retro Wednesday is back from it’s outrageously long hiatus. What happened this time you ask? Well, it’s simple. While backpacking in Tierra del Fuego with a group of gypsy nuns, I was mugged by a group of very large pre-schoolers. I offered them three of the gypsy nuns and some Pepto Bismol, but unfortunately all they wanted was my cheap pocket cameras. That was a few months ago. It wasn’t until this past weekend that one of those gypsy nuns (feeling terribly guilty no doubt) bought me a new pocket camera, which explains why we are all here today.
Also, surprise part two! Eastcoast is joining in this week!!!

Good news everyone! Pocket Camera Retro Wednesdays will be returning this week after its unannounced, and surely unoticed, temporary hiatus. I had actually lost my camera, which explains everything and I can simply end this sentenence without giving you anymore details… right about now.
Also, you may have–or may not have–noticed the new site design. It’s still in the early stages as I am slowly polishing everything off and trying to add some more functionality to the site. Hope you enjoy.

I’ve been injured for the past week so I was unable to go out and get some new photographs. However, being a photographer, I have a surplus of unused photographs to draw from. This weeks selection of photos is completely FROM TOKYO random with LOTS OF AWESOME TOKYO SHOTS no underlying theme what so ever (seriously, don’t even try to read into them, I MEAN IT). The majority of them were actually shot using a pocket camera, but unfortunately some of them were not (oh the horror). So, without any more fuss, enjoy this weeks Pocket Camera Retro Wednesday TOKYO EDITION (which may or may not have been shot using a pocket camrea, while in Tokyo, but probably was). For more details on this series, view the first installment here.

I hate pocket cameras. I hate Merkley??? I hate the tediously generic (TG) look of the majority of photography circulating the web right now. I hate pocket cameras. I was gifted a pocket camera for Christmas. So, while driving home today and thinking of how Friedlander (look him up if you aren’t following along) was essentially a digital Flickr photography whore who just happened to use a film camera, I came upon the idea of “Pocket Camera Retro Wednesdays (PoCaReW-TG).” What better use of my free time then to perpetuate the very things I dislike… At least it seemed logical at the time. And all joking aside, it’s actually kind of fun.

The basics:
- Every Wednesday I will post a new PoCaReW set (with all new, recently shot images).
- All images will be done in a tediously generic way and tediously retro-ized.
- I will actually try to take nice pictures, despite my sarcasm.
- I will never NOT retro-ize the photo.
- I will take this seriously while at the same time taking it completely not seriously.
Now! This weeks set was all taken today on my way home from Austin, Tx (traveling down 290). Enjoy, or don’t… Either way I win. I’ll probably try to get eastcoast (the other touchpuppet) to participate considering that she has her own pocket camera. Maybe we will even branch out to Tediously Generic Diana/Holga Photo Fridays since we both have Dianas… And I have access to a darkroom + scanner.
